The Adult Outpatient Program (AOP) offers clients, ages 18 – 60, individual and couples’ psychotherapy and comprehensive psychological
testing services, which include an initial diagnostic interview along with consultations and referrals as needed. In addition, AOP is able to provide services to the uninsured and under-insured as a result of a Grant Program funded by monies from local city governments.
AOP also offers a comprehensive intern program* accredited by the American Psychological Association for pre-doctoral level psychologists in which three interns are trained every year.
*SMHC does not offer a bachelor’s level internship program.

Our highly trained and seasoned licensed clinicians and those trainees whom we teach and supervise provide critical psychotherapy and assessment services to those in our community who are not of the psychiatrically eligible populations. We treat the parents of the children seen in CAFS, the daughters and sons of those treated in the Elder department, and the family members of those seen in CSP and partner with Psychiatry to provide integrated mental health care.
