ADULT OUTPATIENT PROGRAM

The Adult Outpatient Program (AOP) offers clients within the age range of 18 – 60 years an initial diagnostic interview, individual and couples’ psychotherapy, and comprehensive psychological testing services.  Psychotherapy services are designed to be time effective, empirically based and target the interpersonal and intrapsychic distress that brings most people to psychotherapy.   Dependent each year on grant money from the United Way and constituent towns, a low fee, 8 – session, psychotherapy service is available to those in our catchment area without insurance or who are under-insured.  The department also accepts most major third party reimbursers.

The goals of treatment are to provide an experience that will reduce current difficulties,  lend to the development of greater self awareness and knowledge of the impact one’s behaviors have on others, and to assist in the development of coping skills necessary to manage life in constructive ways at home, at work, and in the community.

Services offered by AOP include:  a diagnostic interview, time effective and longer-term individual and couple’s psychotherapy, psychological testing, consultation, and referral.

AOP staff are masters or doctoral level trained with experience in the field of psychology and clinical social work.  We have a comprehensive intern program accredited by the American Psychological Association for pre-doctoral level psychologists.  We also train 2 – 3 post-doctoral fellows every year.  A master’s level internship is offered for second year students in clinical social work.

Master’s level internships are also offered for students in social work. For more information please visit Psychology Internship Training Program and Masters Level Internship Program.
